Using NIOS II at Home
All students should install this software at home. That way you can write and compile programs for your labs. If you've purchased a DE1/DE2 you can even run it and debug it at home. Download the software below and follow the Installation/Quick Start Guide below.
Downloads
- Make sure you have installed Quartus II Web Edition and NIOS II EDS on your computer. If not follow instructions at the
Quartus at home page
Follow these instructions to install Monitor Program;
- Go to the main Altera web page Altera home page
- Select Support> Unversity Programs at the top of the web page.
- Select Altera Monitor Program, which is towards the bottom of the web page.
- Select Unversity Program Installer,
Make sure to select version 11.1.
- Select EXE under download and opposite (University Programer Installer (Windows)).
- A file called altera_upds_setup.exe will appear on your screen.
- Save this file to your computer.
Once downloaded run the .exe file.
Once the program has been loaded you have completed the installation of monitor program and can program the NIOS II processor.
